Photo Timestamp Online vs Timestamp Camera Apps
Choose the workflow that fits your photos. Photo Timestamp adds a visible date to existing photos in your browser; timestamp camera apps can suit people who want a stamp while taking new pictures.
Three differences to consider
Open a link, without installing an app
- Photo Timestamp in your browser
- Open the editor and select photos from your device. No app download is required for the free editor.
- iOS / Android camera apps
- A camera app needs installation, but can put capture and stamping in one place. Some apps can automatically stamp new photos while shooting offline; check the individual app’s features.
Photo files are processed locally
- Photo Timestamp in your browser
- The editor processes photo pixels in your browser and does not upload your photo files to our servers. It saves a separate stamped JPEG copy.
- iOS / Android camera apps
- Privacy depends on the app. Some apps also work locally and offline; review its permissions and privacy policy before choosing.
One browser workflow across devices
- Photo Timestamp in your browser
- Use the same web editor on Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android in a compatible modern browser. HEIC/HEIF support depends on the file and browser.
- iOS / Android camera apps
- An app may offer camera controls tailored to its operating system. Availability and features can differ between iOS and Android.
When each option fits
Use the web editor for existing photos, occasional edits, or switching between desktop and phone. Consider a camera app when you regularly need stamps added at capture time, especially offline. A visible stamp from either workflow is an editable label; it does not independently authenticate a photo.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an internet connection?
You need a connection to open the site and load the editor and its format libraries. Photo processing is local once the required resources are loaded, but fully offline use is not guaranteed. Sign-in, purchases, and checking Pro access require a connection.
Can I process photos in a batch?
Yes. Free supports up to 5 photos per batch with individual JPEG downloads. Pro removes the plan’s batch-count limit and includes batch and ZIP downloads. Practical capacity depends on device memory.
Does a web timestamp have the same legal effect as an app stamp?
Neither workflow’s visible date alone proves the capture time or guarantees acceptance as evidence. Both a visible stamp and EXIF metadata can be edited. Keep originals, document how files were handled, and check the recipient’s evidence requirements.
Is the browser tool free?
The basic editor is free without an account: add up to 5 photos at a time and download stamped JPEGs individually. Pro is paid and adds features such as batch downloads and date editing.
